The Boeing 727 model followed the success of the iconic 707 that ushered in the Jet Age. Not surprisingly, it ranks as the second highest selling jet airliner. As a midsize Aircraft, the 727 became the standard bird for domestic flights and shorter international trips throughout the 1970s and remains a popular model long after its last production in 1984. Since the Noise Act of 1972 which limits noise levels, the Boeing 727 has required retrofitting with a noise-reducing “hush kit” as it is one of the noisiest commercial aircrafts. As a result, the 727 has transitioned from domestic flights to becoming a workhorse for more industrial purposes or for overseas use where noise regulations are not in place.
